Shaun & Jordan’s Wedding at The Corran, Laugharne

JORDAN SHAUN-1000Jordan & Shaun MacDonald

The Corran, Laugharne,

June 2017

I’ve been so looking forward to posting this wedding in West Wales this Summer. There are so many gorgeous details to share with you from this wedding it’s hard to pull out just one. So I won’t! Instead I hope you’ll agree how pretty and elegant this wedding is. And I couldn’t be happier to introduce you to Jordan and Shaun. There was so much thought that went into this wedding, which is especially surprising when I let you into a secret. They were never going to get married, perfectly happy together without the band of gold (and a little bit of sparkle). So, on the hottest weekend in June, on the groom’s birthday, Shaun and Jordan became Mr & Mrs MacDonald. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as their closest family and friends watched these childhood sweethearts tie the knot.

Now it’s no secret that I’m a sucker for romance and glamour and this wedding has it in bucket loads and I can’t think of a better way to start the weekend by sharing all the beautiful details.

Such an adorable couple who came to Eleanor Gail as clients for Full Wedding Planning & Coordination and are staying as friends. Congratulations.x.

My Best Friend’s Wedding at Llangoed Hall

At the end of last year, I had the huge honour of being involved in one of my closest friend’s wedding at Llangoed Hall, in the heart of the Brecon Beacons. Family and friends travelled far and wide (Australia in case you were wondering) to make sure Nicky and Dave had the best wedding to celebrate the day they became Mr & Mrs Fellowes. They met 3 years ago on a blind date and the rest, as they say, is history. Ladies and Gents, it’s my pleasure to introduce you to Nicky & Dave Fellowes.

Nicky & Dave have been kind enough to leave some lovely words of thanks on our testimonials page too.

An English Indian fusion wedding at Glanusk Estate

Have I got an absolute treat for the eyes this morning!

Kanika & Ed tied the knot at the stuning Glanusk Estate, South Wales, surrounded by 270 of their family and friends in this very personel celebration. The groom’s father and brother-in-law played saxophone and guitar before the ceremony, the bride walked down the aisle to a song written and sung by friends, personal readings throughout the ceremony and a friend singing as a ‘guest spot’ after the first dance, this wedding was all about experiences to treasure.

Kanika & Ed contacted Eleanor Gail  four months before the wedding and they were very clear about wanting something different as their wedding decor, nothing conventional please! And so we were tasked with coming up with ideas that reflected their personalities and we loved every minute of it. I had seen images of the dresses and shirts the bridesmaids and groomsmen would wear and took inspiration from them. We created 8ft long ribbon chandeliers, designed oversized, elevated, floral and ballon displays to fill each of the tipis and had alternate coloured sequin runners on the tables. The effect was stunning and an explosion of colour!

Their wedding day was full of memories to cherish where the music and dance never stopped. What a wonderful way to start your married life. Congratulations both.x.

Eleanor Gail was hired for Full Wedding Co-ordination.

Photographs by kind permission of the bride and broom and taken by the very lovely Jake Morley. Thank you.x.

A Welsh and French Wedding at Llangoed Hall

I am delighted to introduce you to Ceri & Bart who got married at Llangoed Hall this summer, an intimate celebration in front of their close family and friends. The day was filled with champagne, tears and laughter, lots and lots of laughter, and I was chuffed to pieces to be a part of it.

I always say when asked, the hardest part of my role is understanding a client’s style, after all their wedding should reflect their style and personality not mine. Ceri & Bart asked me to come up with a design that was personal to them, a bit fun, that we incorporate across all of their wedding stationary and I wonder if you can spot what it is. Loved, loved, loved working with these two:-)

Grab a cuppa and enjoy the details of their day.

You’re Engaged! What’s Next?

I remember the excitement of being engaged and wondering how to plan a wedding. After all, I knew I wanted to be married, I just hadn’t really thought about the wedding and relied on friends and wedding magazines to steer me in the right direction. So as a wedding planner and a former bride I say “Welcome to our very first planning feature”.

  1. Congratulations! He asked and you said “Yes”. After sharing your news with family and closest friends you’ll need to Set a Date. After all, the question you’ll be asked the most, after “How did he propose?” is “When are you getting married?”, just to be clear this is not a set-in-stone-date but “We’re thinking of Spring 2017” date. This will give your guests a mental note for their diary and allow you the flexibility you need while searching for the perfect venue.
  2. Budget. Setting a budget and sticking to it is the hardest part of planning your wedding. This will be one of the MOST important days of your life, the MOST amount of money you will spend outside of your mortgage and you WILL fall in love with things you won’t have costed for. Your budget will determine the number of guests, your choice of venue, how many bridesmaids/groomsmen and the list goes on so it’s important you understand how much money you will allocate to each and every part of your wedding. Conversations around money are never easy and understanding if family can contribute along with your own savings are really important to confirm a total ‘pot’ before you start. Setting up a separate bank account for your wedding will really help with keeping the reigns on your spending.
  3. Which brings me onto the next item, your Guest List. Catering for your guests will be the largest part of your budget, so it’s important you have an idea of how many guests you can afford as well as how many you’d like to invite. Your search for a venue will also be determined by their capacity so ask your parents to draw up a guest list of those they’d like to include, especially if they’re contributing, and maybe set out some guidance about immediate family only, no work colleagues, whether you’d like to include children etc. There will be many drafts of your guest list so don’t panic if your first count is a ridiculous number, (think Steve Martin in Father of the Bride) just be mindful the more people you invite, the more expensive your wedding will be.
  4. Your Venue Search. All the things you’ve done so far will come together to form part of your decision in choosing a wedding venue. Are you having a church or a civil ceremony? If it’s the latter then you will need to ensure you choose from the list of approved venues found at http://maps.direct.gov.uk/LDGRedirect/MapAction.do?ref=weddingvenues or check your local county website. There will be many things that will narrow your search, the area, the number of guests, your budget and of course the venue’s availability, so get ready to roll your sleeves up, draw up a list of ideal venues, short-list them and make appointments to visit. You’ll know when you’ve seen the venue you like, you’ll fall in love with it!
  5. Should you say “I Do” to a Wedding Planner? Taking my bias aside (of course you should hire a wedding planner) there are many things you should consider before contacting a planner. The chances are you haven’t planned an event on this scale before and if you hire a wedding planner you’ll have to relinquish some control and only you can decide if you’re comfortable doing that. You can ensure they have values and communication styles that align with your own and many planners have a tiered or tailored service so you dictate how much or how little they are involved. Wedding planners are an additional cost but they can negotiate better prices or terms to fit within your budget. A good planner will keep up with trends, have established relationships with suppliers and offer design ideas that reflect you and are unique to your wedding whilst troubleshooting along the way.
  6. Enjoy and Celebrate. Planning your wedding should be a lovely experience. Enjoy it. Celebrate your engagement. This can seem quite overwhelming but please keep in mind you’re having a wedding to get married not getting married to have a wedding. It’s an exciting time for you and your fiancé and the wedding is ‘day one’ of the rest of your life together.

Lovely Lace and Cad & The Dandy. A Whimsical wedding at Bryngarw House.

A whimsical and intimate wedding at Bryngarw House, S. Wales where Linda and Victor married in a western civil ceremony while honouring their Chinese heritage and traditions.

Beautiful gardens, the feeling of being outdoors and exclusive use was really important to this elegant couple and Eleanor Gail found the perfect wedding venue in Bryngarw, Bridgend. They said “I Do” under a floral arch in front of floor to ceiling windows in an emotional ceremony, surrounded by their closest family and friends. White, soft greens complimented the ‘orangery’ feel while champagne gold ensured there was plenty of glamour.

The bride wore a stunning off-shoulder, long sleeved lace gown with a train and the groom wore a hand-made navy Cad & The Dandy suit.

The photographs are by kind permission of the Bride and Groom and we’re chuffed to pieces they allowed us to share them with you.

“Thanks for everything, Gail. We had an amazing wedding day that we can remember forever. ” Linda & Victor Chen.x.

Moroccan Inspired Wedding Dripping with Glamour and Colour.

Stunning radiant orchid and pacific blues paired with gold sequin formed the base for this Moroccan inspired wedding.

This intimate wedding was for family and close friends with 90 guests for the day and evening at The Coed-Y-Mwstwr Hotel, Bridgend, South Wales. The couple live in Maidenhead, the groom originally from Manchester and the bride from Bridgend, both are teachers, and my brief as a wedding planner was “I don’t want a traditional white wedding”. Everyone involved in their day made sure this was one to remember but The Bride’s Dad did something no-one will forget. The Father of the Bride belongs to a Welsh male voice choir who were more than happy to sing before and after the wedding ceremony. Matt & Loy were given the lovely surprise of her father joining the choir to perform a carefully rehearsed song dedicated to the new Mr & Mrs Coleman, there were plenty of tears!

Each photograph is courtesy of the very talented Owen Mathias Photography.

Enjoy! G.x.

Every table had a gold sequin table cloth, adorned with the most beautiful mix of tall floral displays of Hydrangeas and Orchids. Alternating colours were used for each place setting with coordinating thank you cards and name cards with an “inspirational quote” embossed leather luggage tags as favours, a ‘nod’ to the couple’s love of travel. Gold rimmed glasses were hired to give an extra touch of elegance to the table settings.
Above, and forming a focal point to the room, was a 2 meter diameter, ceiling hung, floral wreath with the room’s crystal chandelier peeping through the centre.
At one end of the room a set of 4 mirrors were hidden behind a 3m tall ribbon garland with alternating colours to match. This formed the backdrop for the wedding cake which was a 4 tier, chocolate sculptured cake decorated in coordinating colours and gold leaf and sat on a brass square table surrounded by flowers, on a sequin table cloth. The table-on-a-table with the oversized backdrop gave height and drama to this stunning cake ensuring everyone noticed it. There were no shrinking violets in this wedding!
The guest book was a set of small square postcards, each with a different hand picked photograph of favourite places and moments and guests were encouraged to write a message on the reverse and place in the Moroccan style bowl. Instead of a traditional guest book, we came up with something personal that would be on show long after the wedding day and these cards would be placed in a glass backed photoframe, their favourite photographs on one side and they can turn the frame around to read the lovely messages on the other.
The order of the day was handwritten by Eleanor Gail to match the font from the wedding stationery.
The patio furniture was decorated with Moroccan style umbrellas and lanterns continuing the theme outside.

“I don’t know how I could ever thank Gail enough. Thank you doesn’t even cover it”. Loyette Coleman

“If you want the most magically memorable day for your daughter’s wedding, Gail is the one to manage it to perfection”. Dr Peter and Jan Morgan

A Stylish Spring Wedding at Oldwalls Gower

A stylish spring wedding in the heart of the Gower is what happens when Oldwalls Gower holds a wedding reception for one of their family, their youngest daughter Tassy.
This incredibly elegant wedding was quite simply beautiful from start to finish and although we had a very clear idea on a classic/modern theme the details started with the dress by British designer Suzanne Neville.
The invitations had a bespoke floral design and were laser cut to give the impression of lace while the 7 tier wedding cake had embellishments and lace similar to those on the dress.
The venue was choc full of blooms from mix of tall and shorter table arrangements on clear glass vases and gorgeous ceiling hung wreaths. Not only were the flowers visually stunning but their scent is something I will never forget. I kid you not, I could smell the flowers before I entered the marquee!
But enough of my ramblings I’ll let the details speak for themselves all beautifully captured by Marc Smith Photography.
